Weigh your dog
Most reliable input. Use a vet scale or hold your dog on a bathroom scale and subtract your weight.
Weight beats breed every time. Same breed varies 5–10 kg.
Measure chest girth
Wrap a soft tape around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs. Add 2 cm of breathing room.
Don't pull tight. Two fingers should slide under the tape.
Measure back length
From the base of the neck (where the collar sits) to the base of the tail. Keep your dog standing flat.
This decides whether the coat covers the rump fully.
Not every dog fits a chart.

Brachycephalic breeds
